An Audio Review of Album 53, Episodes 1-7

We're already seven episodes through The Green Ring Conspiracy, so I thought it was about time I offered my thoughts on what we've heard so far. This time I've decided to review via audio, so listen below (or download here) to find out what I think of the mysterious storyline and the new characters!

You mentioned me! Yay! That's only happened to me once or twice before! But I wish it wouldn't have been about my opinion about Buck. ;) But that's okay.

Your opinion about Buck is very interesting, and you have some good points. Thinking back, he really could be more of a city-slicker tough kid with a soft side rather than a southern farmer boy.

I love your Australian accent! It gave a very unique flavor to your review. Ken Ham and Ray Comfort are two guys I listen to quite regularly who also have Australian accents, and they just have this warm grandfatherly sound to them. You are similar to that, and it makes your "podcast" unique among some of the other amateur ones out there.

I don't get the AppleBerry joke. Could you explain? I also just thought it was a pun on BlackBerry. I heard a couple of the characters joking about the name, but I don't remember when, and I remember not getting it.

I agreee with your comments about morals and lessons. I get annoyed whenever there's a Wooton/Penny or Emily/Buck scene, because that's skating on the edge of wholesome storytelling, and then there isn't a good moral to counter that. I agree that there should be something in these episodes that measures up to AIO's previous mystery sagas.

Thank you for taking the time to do this. It was at least well enjoyed by me if not anyone else, and I'll be sure to direct my readers to your podcast in my next post.

Glad you enjoyed it! When/ if I record any more, I'll be sure to go out of my way to refer to your blog again. :-D

At first I thought the name Appleberry was just a pun on Blackberry, but it's actually a combination of two popular phone names: Apple Iphone and Blackberry. Although maybe you're thinking of a different joke in relation to the Appleberry?

Oh, and a correction--my accent is not Australian, it's New Zealand. Easy to confuse for those who don't know, but there's some very important differences in pronunciation (at least, in my opinion they're very important :-P ).

Oh, that's right. I actually had my younger brother tell me that aspect of the phone name, but I forgot. That makes sense.

Sorry. New Zealandian accent. I actually think Ray Comfort is rather from New Zealand than Australia as well, so it makes sense that I'd mix them up. It's just so interesting to hear you pronounce some words so much differently than I do.

Hey, maybe that's why you aren't bothered by Buck's accent! You are a totally different dialect, so you wouldn't know why I think it sounds so fake. I'm not Southern, but I hear Southern accents a lot, because I listen to a radio show by a guy who is in Florida, and he often goes out and witnesses on the streets, so I hear a bunch of Southern accents.

Anyway, I look forward to your next podcast, and I'll be looking for that reference to my blog! ;D

It's a New Zealand accent, Christian! *ready to explain, but sees someone else got to it* Oh, well*

You really think Connie shouldn't get married? 'Cuz I think that Mitch should get married to her.

"I don't like Ja--oh, I shouldn't say that, someone will be offended."

*is offended* Jay's the newest bully, and because he has likable things, I think he's actually better than Rodney, though of course it's each to themself. ;)

And I'm glad you agree that Buck and Emily are...weird. Best question yet :D Sarcasm mixed with Emily and Buck is perfect ;D

Nice job, though, Dave!

*I can't discern an Aussie from a New Zealander.

Great review Dave! Had a lot of fun listening to your review. Nice to hear you review something (with your voice) other than DGL.
